In search of wonderful material written for or about children?
Kay Vandergrift has compiled a wonderful, informative History of Children's Literature . It is a must see (and bookmark) page!Nancy Keane has developed a superb site for Booktalks. The site features and author, title, and subject index, as well as suggested interest levels. She also provides some excellent tips for booktalking.Here is something new. You may enjoy reading books Online, if so this site features some fun, full-text Children's Storybooks. The site features stories for young, middle, and young adult readers.The New York Public Library Children's Department has a list of the top 100 children's books. This is an excellent place to start when you are looking for something great to read.Or check out CHILDLIT listserv's list of picture books recommended for older readers.The Children's Literature Web Guide has links to lots of lists for the best and worst books for children.Just for Kids who love Books is another great Internet resource for children and parents looking for great children's literature.The ALA (American Library Association) publishes a hot list every year for young adults, popular paperbacks, and notable books for children.Carol Hurst's Children's Literature Site contains a collection of reviews, ideas for classroom use, and collections of books and activities.The Bookworm is a great site for kids to check out cool new books, read short biographies and interviews with the authors, and more.
